Thanks for very good collective information. This helps a lot of time, especially in terms of shutting off the water to find out what you have. With your video, I believe to have the ball version (the handle and the dome chrome beneath), how do I go by replacing it to Rp46074 type. I assume I will have to replace the valve body, but will I have to replace the handle and the wall cover place? Will the debt allocated for the ball type be sufficient for the Rp46074 as you mentioned to be longer? If possible a video would help if there is one on youtube.

Can not get the water hot enough on this valve.. water heater set at 135 water is luke warm coming out of shower head. Spigot with orange stop all the to hot. What is wrong, how do I get hotter water.. tia

1:18 Mine is the original flapper as shown here. It began to leak water. Do you know where I can buy such vintage original flapper? I look at Home Depot and Amazon and cannot find one looks like exactly you just shown. Is it too old to find one? My only option is to replace the whole toilet if I cannot find the original flapper. Can you do flush testing with this toilet

The problem I have is how to find out what toilet model I have, I found the serial number on the back right of the tank just under the bar code. The serial # was SV145NHD3 but the kohler page that used to help you lookup the toilet model from the serial number doesn't seem to exist any more. There's five letters pressed into the porcelain on the left back of the tank but I can't seem to read the first letter ? 3932 and underneath that is pressed into the tank is a date 11/22/2011. The toilet is one of those one piece kohlers you get from home depot. So I tried searching with the kohler parts page for 3932 and got a huge number of results. Then I tried "K-3932" and "K3932" (other searches mentioned Kohler stuff might put a "k" on the front of the number)... too many results for that too. I guess I'll give up and go to the kohler store nearby with the serial number and show them.

Are those cartridge interchangeable? I have 1500 or 1700 series cartridge (double twists, on and off, and hot and cold water), but like to use 13 series. Thank you.

So I bought a new delta shower system at Lowe’s to replace the old system and as you know, the valve cartridge’s are different! Of course they are!! Is my only option to replace the main brass valve body in the wall or try to find a shower system that uses the same cartridge? The current cartridge looks to be like the last in your video and seems to be a shallow mount? The new cartridge is like that longer version you showed with the two distinct sides of hot and cold… house was built in the 2009 and this is the original. Thanks so much for the guidance! THANK YOU!!!!! The American Standard actuator disc took about two minutes to replace. Without this video, I would have ended up having to remove the tank to replace the entire flush valve. You can't even understand how much frustration you saved me.

Is there any real function difference between the two valves? Im replacing an pre 2007 delta shower hardware with a new unit. The new hardware came with the longer stems (RP46074). I bought a new Blue cartridge (RP19804) that fit the valve already installed. I test fitted the newer handle and it all seems to work fine but was unable to test hot water due to not having the shower wet in yet. I had no way to run it long enough. I just turned it on and made sure water could flow.

Thanks for the video, very helpful. I own a 7 unit apartment building where each water is separately metered. City just passed an ordinance requiring that we have Backflow preventer installed and checked yearly by the city. Question - would we install ONE backflow preventer on the main water line before the splits occur (for each independent unit) or we would we need to install 7 different ones? Any thoughts or recommendations? thanks

The only step I missed was putting that seal that goes around teh Cap thread gasket. Mine is leaking when ever I put it back together. I didn't realize I'd need that part I thought it was trash like the plastic sleeve you have to take off before re assembling. IF this is my problem then I"m going to have to buy a new one tomorrow....

Enjoyed the video and the new part is about half the price of the older part. I had the hot water stem start dripping and bought a new stem at ACE Hardware, and after installing it, it leaked in a steady drip. The original had fallen part and I got all the pieces out. I took the new one out and it came apart at the bottom leaving part of the stem in the faucet. I was able to get it out but had all the various pieces that I put back together but still had the drip. Have you ever seen this? Are the ace parts not as reliable? Should the cold also be replace? Thanks for any info you can provide.

Can I pack this product around the pipe before I put the toilet back on? The roots aren’t in the pipe, they are growing from the foundation and going into the pipe by the flange. We are replacing the flange but want to put something around pipe to prevent any future root growth.

Yep, these toilets are not designed for a real man crap. Dawn dish detergent, time and vigorous plungeration, the only remedy. Stupid design. Toilet gets cleaned out! Toto 1.6gal works great. COSTCO!

10:05 RP70538 you say the longer bonnet nut is not usually needed, but the part RP75852 is discontinued. What bonnet nut will work with a new Peerless RP70538 cart. The body is Delta B112900 thanks.
